Whether you are staying home or travelling abroad, many of us are looking forward to packing a bag and setting off for a holiday or a few days away this summer. With over a year of restrictions, it’s no surprise that the urge to sleep in a bed other than your own is high on the list of priorities for many of us.
It’s also highly likely that your skin is the last thing on your mind but holidays, hot weather, camping, travelling and stepping away from our normal routines can upset your skin. Follow these tips and make sure you come back from your holiday with radiant, healthy and glowing skin.
Two In One: An organic toner containing a blend of organic floral waters is just the thing to pack in your bag. Not only can you use it after cleansing, but you can also take it on the plane, train or in the car to cool your skin when you are travelling. You can also pop a bottle of Freshen Up in your beach bag and spritz it over your face if you’re feeling hot and bothered, or your skin feels dehydrated. With organic rose, geranium, neroli and aloe vera, Freshen Up is ideal for hydrating your skin, as well as cooling, calming and refreshing it too.
Add moisture: Opt for a hydrating daily moisturiser to apply in the morning before your SPF and look for one that contains hyaluronic acid. This is a fabulous ingredient for helping to keep your skin hydrated during the day - and I use hyaluronic acid in both my natural moisturiser recipe Thirsty Work and Balancing Act.
Make friends with face oils: Facial oils are amazing – the best face oils for sensitive skin are packed full of skin-loving omegas, organic nourishing plant oils, extracts and active ingredients to keep our skin nourished, balanced and radiant. Even oily skin can benefit from using a face oil. The key is to only use a small amount – a few drops are all you need.
Choose an organic face oil that’s right for your skin: if your skin is dry, look for richer oils including argan, macadamia and pumpkin. If your skin is oily you need light, easily absorbed oils that will help to balance your skin. All skin types benefits from omega-rich ingredients like Rosehip, Chia Seed and Kiwi.
Face oils are ideal to use in the evening - if you're going out for dinner or drinks, massage one drop into your clean skin (or add a drop to your foundation or tinted moisturiser) and it will give your skin a dewy glow.
When it's time for bed, cleanse and then massage a few drops of face oil into your face, neck and décolletage. Your skin will thank you in the morning.
If you are in any way unsure what facial oil is best for you and your skin, please do get in touch - I would be delighted to help you. Give me a call on 01348 811711 or email me at [email protected].
Keep it Simple and Small: If you don’t want to pack all your natural skincare products; make sure to include full sizes of your cleanser, a hydrating skin tonic/toner and a daily moisturiser as well as an SPF. Then pack sample sizes of your favourite natural serums and organic face oils as these are highly concentrated and a little goes a long way. Leave exfoliators, masks and other specialist treatments until you return home. Many natural skincare ranges offer sample sizes with all full-sized orders which are handy to have, especially if you are only away for a week or a few days. Try to avoid samples that come in a sachet.
Are you going on your holidays soon? Place your order with me this week and leave me a note if you would like a sample of your favourite facial oil or serum for your holiday. I'll include a sample in your order so you can pack it in your case and leave your full-sized bottle waiting for you a home.
Whatever your plans this Summer and whether your are holidaying at home, within the UK or going abroad, I hope you have a fun-filled time!
