Natural Skin Care Secrets
Using a variety of natural skin care products doesn’t need to be a long, drawn out process - which is a good thing as we lead increasingly busy lives and time is precious! Looking after our skin only takes a few minutes but the benefits last a lot longer.
The main elements of a good skin care regime consist of the following...
Cleansing
Exfoliating & Treatment Masks
Toning
Moisturizing
Facial Massage
If you can afford the time, it’s beneficial to spend a little longer on things like a natural facial massage and applying a treatment mask – these things can really help improve skin tone and appearance and they are also deeply relaxing.
Cleansing
Cleansing is a vital part of good skin care. It is often overlooked but we really should give this fundamental skin care regime more attention. Good cleansing can really improve the appearance of our skin and you should aim to cleanse morning and at night. Cleansing removes daily dirt, grime & make-up and also works deeper than this by keeping our pores clean, removing and preventing blackheads and spots.
When you cleanse don’t forget the tip of your nose, your neck and your décolleté (your chest area). Clean Sweep is a luxurious cleansing balm that cleans and softens your skin. It’s ideal for normal, dry & mature skins but because of the thicker oils, butters and beeswax, it is not recommended if you have oily or combination skin. Sweet Cheeks is a gentle face wash that is more like a gel than a cream. It contains Papaya extract that balances sebum production and exfoliates any dry patches. It is particularly beneficial for normal, oily & combination skins and is gentle enough to use twice a day. I Can See Clearly Now is a brilliantly efficient eye make-up remover oil.
Exfoliating
Unless you have very sensitive skin, exfoliating should be a weekly or twice weekly part of your skin care regime. Scrub Up removes dead, dull skin cells and speeds up the renewal rate of healthy new skin cells. To save time, I put Scrub Up on when I’m in the shower. I leave it on for a few minutes whilst I wash my hair and then gently massage it in and wash it off.
Toning
Some people don’t think toners are a necessary part of a good skincare regime but for me, toning completes the cleansing process – removing any last traces of cleanser and leaving the skin ready for moisturizing. I love the fresh feeling that a toner gives my skin. If you have oily or combination skin I recommend using Tone Up as it far more astringent (ie it contracts and tightens skin tissues). If you have normal, dry or mature skin Freshen Up is the toner for you.
Moisturizing
Moisturizing should always be done on skin that is perfectly clean. Moisturizing does more than just hydrate our skin. It can also nourish, repair & protect our skin as well as prevent dehydration.
I have developed a unique concept that delivers a far greater concentration of active raw materials than a traditional moisturiser cream does. Firstly you apply a specialist skin serum – there are two to choose Perfect Pores and A Little Lift - depending on your skin type) but both are hydrating, plumping and based on flower waters. This is then followed by a natural face oil (again there are two to choose from). Both oils contain vitamins, anti-oxidants and essential oils that treat, nourish, repair & improve the appearance, tone & texture of your skin.
If you'd rather stick to what you know, I have two excellent and effective natural moisturisers suitable for different skin types: Thirsty Work is excellent if your skin is dry, dehydated or mature and in need of some serious plumping. Balancing Act helps control the prodution of oil in your skin - it's lighter and quickly absorbed so perfect if you have normal, oily & combination skin.
Facial Massage
Facial massage is wonderfully relaxing (even more so if you can find someone to give you a massage) and it can also really improve the tone & appearance of your skin; leaving you with a healthy glow and radiance. Massage helps the products to sink into your skin; it’s easy to do and takes a few minutes (longer if you have the time).
The best products to use for facial massage are balms and oils. Clean Sweep is a good product to massage into your skin to thoroughly cleanse it and is ideal for use when you’re in the bath. The two Face Oils are perfect for massage as the oils are quickly absorbed and the massage really helps the oils to penetrate into your skin. Rest & Regenerate is ideal for a relaxing night time treatment to send you off to sleep. You’ll enjoy the sensation of the massage and you’ll love the results on your skin when you wake up.
My top tips for Facial Massage
- Warm the product in the palms of your hands and apply to warm, clean skin
- Always work upwards and outwards and use gentle (but firm) sweeping and tapping motions
- Never drag or pull your skin
- Work in small circles and repeat each area 3 times.
I hope you enjoy using my natural and organic skin care products.
